This two-story brick building was built by William H. McCausland in 1876. The 1902 directory shows a grocery store run by Harry Emery and a Billiards and Pool Room facility run by J.C. Thompson, the latter of which had cigars and tobacco available. By 1909, Burchfields Department Store, which advertised it= sold “everything under the sun,” had replaced the two.
