This church was built in 1911. The original church, also located at this site, was consecrated circa 1870. Land for the church as given by the Hale family, which accounts for its presence at a corner of the Hale (former Philips) estate. It is said to be the first church in the United States to have an electric light. The light was too loud for indoor use, however, and was removed almost immediately. The original, wooden church was moved to Juniata, PA by rail in 1911, and the current church was built later to accommodate a large congregation.
