From the Journal in 1873: excited that he’s going to make Philipsburg his permanent home, “Mr. Weiser [superintendent of the Beaver Run sawmills] is just such a man as we like to see settle amongst us and have the interest in our place that owning property always gives.” The house was later owned for many years by the Holt family and left to the borough to house the library, though the Library Board ultimately chose to sell it.
