The 105Building
The Front Street Tour
The building housing Ricotta’s Jewelry Store is probably the oldest on the street and one of few dating earlier than 1830. It is vertical frame encased in brick with a roof that slopes to the back. It was originally located near “the stone corner” on Pine Street. It was moved to several locations on Front Street, including the corner of Front and Laurel when it was owned by Daniel Barrett. It was moved to its current site in 1889 by William Miller, merchant tailor. In a 1949 business directory, Sam Miller’s Tailor Shop is listed at this address. Sam carried on the tailoring trade from his father. Sam Miller was Burgess of Philipsburg Borough from 1958 to 1964.
